Your first Mobile line

Keep your current phone working while you get started.

Check your phone

You can usually keep the phone you already own. We check three things separately:

  • Compatible: the phone can use the network.
  • Unlocked: your old carrier lets it use another provider.
  • eSIM support: it can download a SIM instead of using a card.

The IMEI is your phone’s identification number. Find it in the phone’s About settings, or ask us for help in the phone check.

iPhone: open Settings → General → About. “No SIM restrictions” beside Carrier Lock means it is unlocked. Only the provider that locked it can unlock it.

Android: ask the provider that sold or locked the phone to confirm its carrier-unlock status. The available settings differ by model. A phone can support eSIM while still being locked.

A screen passcode is different from a carrier lock. A check showing “Not confirmed” needs review; it does not mean the phone is ready.

Choose a plan and SIM
eSIM

A digital SIM downloaded to a compatible phone. Nothing arrives in the mail.

Physical SIM

A small card inserted into the phone’s SIM tray. Delivery is a one-time $10.

A SIM connects your phone to your Mobile line. Installing one does not copy your photos, contacts or apps, and it does not automatically transfer your old number.

Both plans include unlimited talk and text. Choose 2 GB or 5 GB of high-speed mobile data for each line. Mobile data is the internet your phone uses away from Wi-Fi—maps, email, videos and apps.

Check the plan price and any taxes or delivery charge before paying. When your area is not open, choose Get notified; joining that list does not start service or take payment.

Install your Mobile line

Wait until your line is ready and you have its installation details. Connect to Wi-Fi first. Keep your current SIM or eSIM in place.

iPhone eSIM

  1. Open Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM.
  2. Use the supplied QR code—the square barcode—or the installation details.
  3. Follow the prompts. Name the new line Quad State.

Google Pixel eSIM

  1. Open Settings → Network & internet → SIMs.
  2. Choose Add SIM → Set up an eSIM.
  3. Follow the prompts using the installation details supplied for your line.

Other Android phones may use different menu names. Ask us if the prompts do not match your phone. Only install the profile supplied for that line.

Physical SIM: wait for the card and our activation instructions before replacing a card you still use. On a phone with one SIM slot, swapping cards changes which line is connected.

After installation, confirm the Quad State line is switched on. Test a call, a text and the internet with Wi-Fi temporarily switched off. Restore Wi-Fi after the test. Follow our supplied setup method; phone-to-phone eSIM transfer is not always available.

Do not delete an eSIM to troubleshoot. You may need a replacement before you can use that line again.

Try Mobile alongside your current line

Some phones can keep two lines switched on. This is called dual SIM; it may be a card plus an eSIM, or two eSIMs. Your exact phone must support it.

A trial request is reviewed before service starts. If your trial is approved with a new number, that number is separate from the number you already use. The trial does not move your old number.

For this example, keep your current line as the default for calls and texts. Choose Quad State for mobile data when you want to test its internet connection. Calling or texting from the trial line shows its new number.

On iPhone, choose Default Voice Line and Cellular Data in Settings → Cellular. On Pixel, choose Calls, Texts and Mobile data in Settings → Network & internet → SIMs.

Switching the data line does not move your number. Calls on one line can affect the other line’s availability; test ordinary calls and texts before relying on the setup.

Our complete two-line guide covers iPhone, Pixel, work and personal numbers. Request a free trial if you are not ready to move your service.

Keep your current phone number

Moving a number between providers is called a number transfer or port. It is a separate step from installing a SIM.

  1. Keep your current service active. Do not cancel it before the transfer finishes.
  2. Get the old account number, transfer PIN and matching billing details from your current provider.
  3. Have your Mobile SIM ready. Our team confirms the transfer process and timing with you.
  4. Keep using the old line while the transfer is pending. Watch for confirmation that it has completed.
  5. After confirmation, choose Quad State for calls, texts and data. Check incoming and outgoing calls and texts.

Transfers are not always instant. Installing a second eSIM can prepare a compatible phone, but it does not guarantee that the number has moved or that the phone will choose the right line automatically.

Use less mobile data

Use Wi-Fi for large downloads and video when you can. Your Mobile account shows each line’s allowance and usage. The phone’s own counter may differ from the carrier’s reading.

iPhone

Open Settings → Cellular, then the line or Cellular Data Options. On LTE, switch on Low Data Mode; on 5G, open Data Mode → Low Data Mode. This reduces background transfers and may reduce streaming quality.

Google Pixel

Open Settings → Network & internet → Data Saver and switch it on. Most background activity waits for Wi-Fi. If an important app stops updating, review Unrestricted data for that app.

Pixel usage warning: open Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Data warning & limit. Enable a warning and set an amount below your line’s allowance. A data limit can switch mobile data off; read the prompt before enabling it.

Saving data does not add more to your plan. How much data do I need?

Understand payment and renewal

When service is available, review your plan, monthly price and any one-time charges before you pay. Saving a card and allowing automatic monthly payment are separate choices.

Your account shows each line’s data use separately. One line running low does not mean every family member has used their data. Choose the line before adding data, and review the amount before buying.

In your account, use Billing for cards, invoices and payment settings. If a renewal payment fails, check the notice and invoice status before trying another payment.

Keep using your current service until your new line is confirmed ready. A payment receipt or saved card alone is not an activation confirmation.

Something does not look right

Check that the intended line is switched on and selected for the task you are testing. “No Service” on the other line during a call can depend on your phone’s two-line support and settings.

Have the line name, phone model and any on-screen message ready. Leave the SIM installed and contact us before deleting a profile, resetting the phone or submitting another payment.
