Metropolis, IL - Connectivity for Hope grant provides Fiber Internet to The Refuge for charity and good

When the food pantry isn't open, the Refuge's blessing box in Metropolis IL offers food and clothing items to those in need.

METROPOLIS IL - When Quad State Internet expands its fiber-optic footprint, we look for ways to engage with our community to make it a better place for everyone to live. Connectivity enhances the life that we live at home, the way we conduct business, and the ways we connect with each other.

That's why when we found that the Refuge in Metropolis, IL was operating a food pantry on limited resources, and engaging in constant and continuous outreach with members of the community that are in need the most, we knew that this was a place we wanted to assist.

Many non-profits operate on shoestring budgets, but even with those small budgets, their impact is immense. These organizations are run by those who live within the community and are most engaged with those who need their services the most.

We looked at the Refuge and realized that not only is it all-volunteer, but the members doing the work also put their own money into the efforts. Internet given to them through a grant created by Quad State Internet's Connectivity for Hope program means more food in bellies, and more clothes on backs, and that's why we chose to donate service to the Refuge.

If you're ever in the area and need someone to talk to, a friend to reach out to, or even a glass of water, the Refuge is there, and they may even share their Wi-Fi password!

The work of Pastor Tony Morris and his congregation cannot be understated, and if you see him, he'll be happy to give you a hug and offer his friendship. We encourage those within our community to reach out to the Refuge whether they find themselves in need or have a can of food to spare.

The Refuge can be found on Facebook, and Pastor Tony Morris can be contacted directly at 270-933-3466
